- Mile End
- Griffintown
Start times and dress codes
Dinner runs from about 7 to 9:30pm, later than the rest of Canada, and the evening is unhurried in a way that feels closer to Europe. Montreal dresses with more flair than Toronto and takes its food and its terraces seriously.
Getting to the venue
The metro is quick and runs until about 1am, and much of downtown is connected by the Underground City — genuinely useful from December to March. The Plateau and Mile End are best covered on foot.
When the Montreal calendar fills
Summer is festival season and the busiest by far, with the jazz festival and the comedy festival back to back in June and July. Winter is severe but the city is built for it, and the terraces reopen the moment it turns.

Taking a date to an occasion in Montreal
Does a companion speak French and English?
Both, and switching between them mid-conversation is entirely normal here. Tell us which you would prefer for the evening and we will match accordingly.
What works in Montreal in winter?
More than you would expect. The Underground City connects a large part of downtown, the museum and restaurant scene runs all year, and the city treats winter as a season to use rather than endure.
