Getting to the venue

The first metro line, Ben Thanh to Suoi Tien, helps along its one corridor. On foot, cross at a steady pace and let the traffic flow around you; a sudden stop is what causes trouble.
When the Ho Chi Minh City calendar fills
November to April is the dry season, and the coolest months, December and January, are also the busiest for weddings and year-end parties in the run-up to Tết. From May to October a heavy downpour arrives most afternoons and passes within the hour, so leave a margin for reaching an evening event. March and April are the hottest. Tết itself, in late January or February, closes much of the city for a week or more while families travel home.

What should my date know before a Vietnamese wedding reception?

Receptions are loud and cheerful with plenty of toasts, and guests tend to leave soon after the meal, so the exit is easy to plan.
