Where to meet before the event in Rome
- Trastevere
- Monti
- Prati
- Centro Storico
Start times and dress codes
Dinner runs from about 8 to 10pm and is not a rushed affair — two hours at the table is normal. Romans dress well without being formal, and looking as though you have made an effort matters more than any specific dress code.
Getting to the venue
Rome's metro is limited compared with other capitals, so the centre is best covered on foot. That is not a hardship, but it does mean comfortable shoes and a plan that does not sprawl across the city.
When the Rome calendar fills
April to June and September to October are the best windows. August is hot and many neighbourhood places close for the month, which narrows the options considerably.

Taking a date to an occasion in Rome
Is Rome walkable for an evening out?
Very — and it is the best way to see it. Trastevere and Monti in particular reward wandering, so a first meeting there tends to feel relaxed rather than scheduled.
Can a companion join me for a wedding in Rome?
Yes, and it is a frequent request. Italian weddings run long and are quite formal, so tell us the venue and timings when you enquire and we will match someone prepared for a full day.
